The Black Dog was
designed by Mr. George M. Kelson in the early 19th
century and is a popular fly among tiers
today. It is tied in the classic married wing style
with a touch of the classic spey style.
The fly is written about by Francis Francis and Sir Maxwell. Francis describes two versions of
the Black Dog in his writings. Maxwell's version
calls for more color in the wings than in Kelson's. |
